“Dad, you saw how difficult it was for me to eat that Curd Rice.”
Sindu was in tears.
“And you promised to grant me whatever I ask for. Now, you are going back on your words. Was it not you who told me the story of King Harishchandra and its moral that we should honor our promises no matter what?”
It was time for me to call the shots.
“Our promise must be kept.”
“Are you out of your mind?” Chorused my mother and wife.
“No. If we go back on our promises, she will never learn to honour her own. Sindu, your wish will be fulfilled.”
With her head clean-shaven, Sindu had a round face and her eyes looked big and beautiful.
On Monday morning, I dropped her at her school. It was a sight to watch, my hairless Sindu walking towards her classroom. She turned around and waved. I waved back with a smile.
Just then, a boy alighted from a car and shouted, “Sinduja, please wait for me!”
What struck me was the hairless head of that boy.
“Maybe that is the in stuff.” I thought.
“Sir, your daughter Sinduja is great indeed!”
Without introducing herself, a lady got out of the car and continued, “That boy who is walking along with your daughter is my son Harish. He is suffering from leukemia.”
She paused to muffle her sobs.
“Harish could not attend school for the whole of the last month. He lost all his hair due to the side effects of the chemotherapy. He refused to go back to school, fearing the unintentional but cruel teasing of his schoolmates. Sinduja visited him last week and promised him that she will take care of the teasing issue. However, I never imagined she would sacrifice her lovely hair for the sake of my son!”
“Sir, you and your wife are blessed to have such a noble soul as your daughter.”
I stood transfixed and then, I wept.
“My little Angel, you are teaching me how selfless real love is!”
The happiest people on this planet are not those who live on their own terms but are those who change their terms for the ones whom they love

Real Love 2

Real Love 1
My wife called, “How long will you be with that newspaper? Will you come here and make your darling daughter eat her food?”
I tossed the paper away and rushed to the scene. My only daughter, Sindu, looked frightened; tears were welling up in her eyes. In front of her was a bowl filled to its brim with curd rice. Sindu is a nice child, quite intelligent for her age.
I cleared my throat and picked up the bowl.
“Sindu darling, why don't you take a few mouthful of this curd rice? Just for Dad's sake, dear.”
Sindu softened a bit and wiped her tears with the back of her hands.
“Ok, Dad. I will eat - not just a few mouthfuls, but the whole lot of this. But, you should...”
Sindu hesitated.
“Dad, if I eat this entire curd Rice, will you give me whatever I ask for?”
“Promise.”
I covered the pink soft hand extended by my daughter with mine and clinched the deal. Now I became a bit anxious.
“Sindu dear, you shouldn't insist on getting a computer or any such expensive items. Dad does not have that kind of money right now. Ok?”
“No, Dad. I do not want anything expensive.”
Slowly and painfully, she finished eating the whole quantity. I was silently angry with my wife and my mother for forcing my child to eat something that she detested. After the ordeal was through, Sindu came to me with her eyes wide with expectation. All our attention was on her.
“Dad, I want to have my head shaved off this Sunday!” was her demand.
“Atrocious!” shouted my wife,
“A girl child having her head shaved off? Impossible!”
“Never in our family!” My mother rasped.
“She has been watching too much of television. Our culture is getting totally spoiled with these TV programs!”
“Sindu darling, why don't you ask for something else? We will be sad seeing you with a clean-shaven head.”
“Please, Sindu, why don't you try to understand our feelings?”
I tried to plead with her.

Ghost Story 4
A woman came out of the house and walked towards me, smiling sadly.
“Hi, I’m Maria, Mikaella’s mother. Please come inside, Julius.”
While we were walking towards the mansion, she explained to me why she knew me very well - Mikaella talks about me often. I hardly understood what she was saying as I was busy wondering why was she crying while talking to me.
As we approached the great hall of the house, it dawned on me that there was a wake inside. I thought maybe a relative had passed away. However, deep in my heart, I was trembling and afraid.
As we entered the hall, there were many people silently mourning while others were praying.
I asked her mother, “Where is Mikaella?”
She held my hand and silently led me to the coffin which was surrounded by flowers. The flowers were all pink roses. No words could explain how I felt when I gazed into the coffin and saw who was lying there. It was the same beautiful girl I met yesterday…
A man came beside me and I knew he was Mikaella’s father.
“We are so glad you came, Julius. Mikaella talked about you all the time. She even asked for her phone to be buried with her. She said that through this way, you could still send her messages and you would always be with her.”
I couldn’t believe everything… My mind was in limbo.
“But how can this be? We just saw each other yesterday.”
“That can’t possibly be. She passed away three days ago. She had been suffering from a heart disease since she was a child.” said her father.
“But…” I couldn’t find the words to say.
“She told us not to bother reaching you.” her mother said, still in tears.
“She said that you will come and here you are.”
Pain and bitterness overwhelmed me. I cried silently beside her as I stared at her lovely face. I tried to memorize every line of my friend’s face, a face I knew I would never forget while I was still alive.
After going to the wake that afternoon, I went to the chapel she told me she went everyday. I sat there praying and crying to God.
I held my phone and typed, “U taught me how 2 care; u taught me how 2 b kind; u shwd me how 2 lyk som1; u shwd me how 2 luv; but ders 1 thing u didnt teach me & it hurts - u didnt teach me how 2 let u go. I Love You.”
I sent the message and even though I knew she wouldn’t be able to hold her cellphone again, I knew in my heart she would get my message. I didn’t expect a reply but my phone beeped seconds later. I felt a shiver down my spine. The sender’s number did not appear on the screen but tears rolled down my cheeks as I read the message.
“Let go of d hand of d person u love, but dont let go of God’s hand. 4 if u hold 2 his hand. He may b holding d person u love in d other hand 2 let u hold each other again.”
“I will never forget you Mikaella. I will never let you go…” I vowed to her and to myself as I left the chapel.
"Keep me as a frnd & I will keep u in my heart. Lock it up & throw away d key so dat no1 can evr tke u away from me..."
One day, she sent this message to me.
I replied, 'In life, we seldom find a true prson & if u evr find 1, hold on & nvr let go... Value dat prson coz it's a gift worth keeping & holdin on..."

Ghost Story 3
One night, just three days before our Lord's birthday, I suddenly heard my phone's message tone again. At last! It was from her!
"Often in tym, we say gudbye 2 d 1 we luv w/o wanting 2. Though dat doesn't mean dat we stopped loving dem or we stopped 2 care. Sometyms, Goodbye is a painful way 2 say I Love You."
I was dumfounded. I didn't know what to think of it. What did she mean? I texted her back searching for answers. However, I found nothing. I called her but she would not answer as usual.
For the first time in my life, I felt so miserable, desperate and empty. I didn't know what to do. I didn't want to lose her. I had learned to love her and I wanted to be with her forever.
The following days, I felt nothing but emptiness. It seemed that Mikaella took the life out of me. I missed her so much. I missed her messages. I missed hearing my message tone that would indicate that she had sent another loving message. Nobody around me could feel the emptiness I felt.
Tut... Tut... Tut... Tut... Tut...
A day before Christmas, my cellphone beeped again. It was her!
“Meet me at d cafe, 10 am 2day”
I read it aloud, making sure the message was true. I jumped with joy upon hearing from her again. I got myself ready in a hurry and went to the mall. I knew it was still early, but I wanted to be there before she arrived.
I arrived at the meeting place ten minutes earlier. I was surprised to see her already there, smiling at me. She was very beautiful. She had black, deep-set eyes that spoke a thousand words; small, kissable lips; a perfectly chiselled nose and long black hair. Her eyes radiated kindness and love but there was a flicker of something in them. I thought I could detect a flicker of sadness.
“Hi, Julius,” said the angelic voice I had been dreaming of each night.
It was a voice that I had waited to hear for so long.
“Please sit down.”
“I am very pleased to meet you, Mikaella,” I said, as I took my seat and gave her the roses I had bought for her.
“Thanks, Julius.” she smiled, obviously pleased with the roses.
I knew she loved pink roses.
“You are always welcome, Love.”
“Julius, I can’t stay,” she said, sadness in her voice.
“I really must go.”
“But we just met, Mikaella. Can’t we talk a little longer?” I asked, pleadingly.
“I really can’t. I just came here to see you and thank you for the time you have shared with me. Thank you for everything, Julius. I will never forget you. You will always be here in my heart.”
She was looking at me straight in the eyes and I could really feel the sadness in her voice. I swear there was something in her voice and those lovely yet lonely eyes. She got up and smiled at me lovingly.
“Please come and visit me tomorrow morning.” she said and gave me a piece of white linen paper.
I read what was written on it and when I looked up, she was gone. The following day on Christmas, I woke up early and got ready in excitement as I thought of her. I went to a florist in a hurry and bought a dozen pink roses for her.
They lived in an exclusive subdivision. Upon reaching their house, I told the guard who I was and that I was looking for Mikaella. The guard stared at me with sadness and amazement in his eyes. He told me to wait as he called the owner of the house. As I saw him going inside the house, I noticed that the house was brightly lit.

Ghost Story 2
I couldn't understand what I felt at that moment, but I was sure of one thing. I could not go a day without a single word from her. Even though we haven’t met personally, I became used to having her in my life. In fact by then, she already occupies a large space in my life.
I texted her back. "Dont come close if ull jst pass by; don't touch me if ull jst let me cry; dont luv me if ull jst leave me and won't stay..."
I didn't know why I sent her that message, but somehow I felt every word came from my heart. In the short span of time that we exchanged messages with each other, I knew I have reserved a place for her in my heart.
I called her once. The voice on the other end was like an angel's. It was soft, kind and full of love. Yet, there was something in it I couldn't define. We only talked for a few minutes. Before she hung up, she told me not to call again. According to her, it would be better if we would just text each other.
But her voice kept ringing not only in my head, but in my heart. I longed to hear it once more. I tried to call her again but she did not answer the phone. She just kept on sending messages and quotations, which I copied in a little notebook. Am I a hopeless romantic? I don't know. All I could say was all the messages she sent me were wonderful. They came from her heart and cut through my heart.
"Though we r miles apart, u r always in my heart. I close my eyes & der u r. Even if I'll nvr c u, I'll always b arnd 2 care 4 u, far longer den 4ever..."
She sent me this message to me on one December night. By that time, we had been exchanging messages for more than a month. God knew how happy I was. She was right. Although we had not seen each other, what we felt was enough to make us both realize what was keeping us together.
I sent her another message, "Loving u secretly is a hard thing 4 me 2 do, hoping, wondering that u will feel d same way 2, but I can't read ur mind to know if u luv me 2. But whatever it is, I'll still be loving u."
"How I wish I cud really tell u how much u mean 2 me, but Im afraid 2 love, scared 2 get hurt. I hope dat u will wait 4 me & pray dat u will not get tired of loving me. =)" was her reply.
And I replied again. "The reason y I met u is bcoz of destiny but if destiny will suggest dat I'll live w/o u, den, I'll not follow my destiny but my free will."
Whenever I asked her when can we meet personally, she will always reply, "Soon... soon, love... soon."
Not seeing each other did not lessen our love even by a bit. What I felt for her grew deeper and stronger each day. And I was sure she felt the same way too. Love messages continued to flow through our lines between our hearts, which made us think that we would see each other, face to face, heart to heart someday.
Just a few days before Christmas, she stopped sending me messages. At first I just thought she had ran out of credit on her prepaid card.
However, there was something that kept bothering me. I couldn't understand what was it, but it made me felt nervous. I tried to call her but she wouldn't answer. Nevertheless, I continued sending her messages.

Ghost Story 1
My cellphone's beeping sound woke me up one night. Used to receiving important messages only, I grabbed my cellphone and sleepily pressed the keys and read the message.
"Hi there! Care 2 b my txtmate?"
Not knowing who the sender was, I deleted the message right away and placed the phone on my bedside table. I tried to go back to sleep. I had just closed my eyes when I heard the message tone again.
"Hi there, again! Care 2 b my txtmate?" again, the message said.
"Who the hell could this be asking for a textmate at the wee hours of the night?" I asked myself.
Again, I deleted the message without bothering to reply.
I was never a 'textmaniac' - someone who enjoys texting anyone and everyone even in the wee hours of the night, not to mention during the day. My parents who were always abroad, forced me to own a cellphone. They told me that having one was more convenient - they could monitor me even if they're miles away.
I wanted to turn the cellphone off. However, since my mother was fond of calling me at night just to check if I am safe at home, I decided not to.
Just as I was about to close my eyes and return to my dreamless sleep, the phone beeped again. It was from the same number! Such determination!
"Ply reply 2 dis msg & b an angel & save me frm dis abyss of emptiness!"
I never knew why but the message struck me. I got up and pressed the keys. I realized I was replying to the message.
"Im not an angel, n if u want som1 2 save u, Im not superman. Im just a simple person whom u woke up in d mid of d nite! Nway, do I know u?" I typed.
Seconds later came the reply.
"Nope. U don't know dis lonely soul. Nor does she know u. But I want 2 b ur frnd. I'm Mikaella Cervantes. U?"
"Just call me Julius. How did u get my no.?" I sent back.
"Hi Julius, nice 2 meet u. Just shuffled the last two digits of mine" she replied.
That was the first and maybe the last time I met someone over the cellphone.
We exchanged messages and learned so much about each other that night. We only said goodbye when my alarm clock rang at 5 a.m.! I had to prepare for school!
And that was also how it all started. There wouldn’t be a day without a loving and thoughtful message from her. It was only then I learned to appreciate text messages and become eager and excited everytime my phone beeped, hoping it would be her.
I never knew why, but her response would send shivers down my spine.
"Value d people hu hav touched ur life bcoz ull never know just wen will dey walk out of ur lyf & nvr come back again."

A Love They Will Never Know Part 3
"My dearest love,
I don’t know how this happened between us. I wished we could have been together forever like in your favourite movie. However, it did not work out and I know why. I never said what I wanted to say to you. I never told you how much you meant to me, how much I really love you and how you made my world complete.
I did not tell you I was leaving. I know it was stupid of me. I just figured that you would not have cared anyway. Therefore, I left. I could not accept us not being together but I wanted you to be happy. Hence, I let you move on with your life. I figured that it would be easy this way as in time, you would forget about me although I would never forget about you. I love you too much and I always will.
I probably won't give this letter to you either. I just want to give you your wish. Forget about me. I just hope that someday a man will love you as much as I did and I wish you can make him as happy as you made me everyday. I love you forever and ever baby. I will miss you. I will think about you. I just wish I told you how I really felt and told you that all the times we fought, I was in the wrong and very sorry from the bottom of my heart."
That was the end of the letter. She was in total hysteria. She was shaking so badly that she could not even hold on to the phone. All she could think of was how she never tell him how she felt and how she will never get the chance to do so again. The officer went on to say something else.
"Ma'am, are you still there?"
"Yes I’m here. Was that all of it?"
"Yes that was all. Once again I'm truly sorry. He really loved you I guess?"
"Yes he did, and I never accepted it. I truly loved him too."
"I know this hurts a lot Ma'am, but remember he would not want you to mourn. He wants you to be happy."
"Yeah well that’s a little hard as I won't be happy without him. I will never be able to tell him I love him more than words can speak."
"Yes I know that is tough. The best thing you can do is just love him even though he isn’t here. Remember he will always love you, even now."
"Yes, thank you."
"Well I have to call his parents and let them know. Are you going to be okay?"
"I will be fine. Thank you for letting me know and reading the note to me."
"You are welcome. Goodbye."
"Bye."
After his death, she couldn’t be happy ever again. She never told him how she ever felt in the past and had lost her opportunity. She spent the rest of her life, never really being herself anymore. She visited his grave for an hour everyday. She wanted to feel his presence. Some days, she felt his warmth on her and she knew that he was there with her. After many years, she passed away and her last wish was to be buried to the only man she ever loved so they can be together again.

A Love They Will Never Know Part 2
Another week went by and they didn’t see each other until fate stepped in again. She came over to his place. He was happy that she did because he was not having a good day and he knew if he saw her his day would become so much better. She went right into his room again. They talked and watched television and he felt very close to her.
However in his mind, he was telling himself, "This isn’t real. It will be a repeat of what happened the last time."
They started to kiss after lying in bed together. He floated in the wind like a feather when his lips met hers. All his sadness and anger went away in an instant. They made love that afternoon. That would be the last time they see each other in a friendly manner. After that time, they started to fight. They fought a lot and their fights were filled with pure hatred with one another. It was not good and it didn’t look like it will get better any time soon.
He thought to himself, "Why be here if she hates me so much?"
He made plans to go away. He thought he could go anywhere as it did not matter. He got all his stuff ready for his trip when she started talking properly to him again. He was still furious but they talked in a civil manner. He thought it was finally getting better. And it was. Despite that, he wasn’t going to tell her about his plans to leave as he wanted the relationship to end on a high note.
He simply said to her, "Goodbye, I will be seeing you".
The next day, he left for his trip. Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months. Then on one sunny afternoon, she got a call to her house.
"Hello."
"Hi, is she there?"
"Yes, this is her."
"Hello Miss, this is the police. We regret to inform you that an accident has happened."
"What kind of accident?"
"Your friend died. He was hit by a truck head on... He died instantly."
She dropped the phone. She was in total hysteria. She couldn’t control her emotions but she had to calm herself down to find out more details about the accident.
"What? Where? How?"
"He was travelling down the highway when he was hit head on by a sleeping driver from the opposite lane. He never saw it coming. I'm so sorry."
"Do his parents know?"
"No, you were the first person on his list of people to call in case of an emergency."
"Oh I see."
She couldn’t believe it. She could not believe he is gone forever. She never got to say a real goodbye. She never got to tell him how she felt. At the same time, she felt anger.
Hence, she asked, "Well why didn’t you do anything for him?"
"Ma'am, there was nothing we could do. We tried our best we could but there was nothing we could do. We are sorry."
Tears streamed down her face like a waterfall. Everything the policeman said on the phone became a blur.
Then he yells, "Ma'am, are you still there?"
"Yes I am, sorry. What is it?"
"Well we found something on him. It’s a letter. It’s written to you."
"Oh. What does it say?"
"Ma'am, are you sure you want to hear it? We understand that you are in a delicate state right now. Maybe it would be in your best interests to read it at another time?"
"Please just read it to me."
"Ok Ma'am, this is what it says."
She can tell that he is a little upset himself as he gets his voice together. She puts the phone tighter to her ear.

A Love They Will Never Know Part 1
There was this couple. They had their problems. They fought. She was mean, and he was meaner. But they loved each other deeply.
One day, they fought again. Only this time, it didn’t get better. All they could think of is how it is finally going to be the last straw. They hung on for a little bit longer just to keep the love alive. However, it wasn't enough. She finally told him it was over. He was shocked. He could not believe it. He could not believe that after all this time, the inevitable has happened. He was so deeply in love that he was blinded by it. He could not accept it for never in his right mind would he had thought that it would be over between the two of them. After all, they fought often but were still together for three years.
The days went by. They didn’t talk much to each other at all. After barely talking for a week, she went to his house. His heart hit his throat. He had so many butterflies in his stomach that he thought he was going to throw up. He didn’t know what to say. She came in, laid her stuff down and they went to his bedroom.
She asked, "How are you?"
He simply replied, "I’m okay."
Neither of them said another word as they sat there. They turned to look at each other. His eyes started to swell and tears filled his eyes. She looked back with the same expression. Then, it happened.
She opened her mouth and simply said, "I miss you so much."
He didn’t know what to say. His mind drew a blank. After a moment, the words came back to him.
He looked back at her and replied, "I miss you so much too."
They started crying and he holds her to comfort her. She didn’t resist.
After that afternoon together, she left. Later, he went online on his computer to see if she was online. She wasn't. He waited for her to go online and hours went by but she remained offline. He waited as long as he could before going to bed. The next day, he received an email.
It says, "Hi, yesterday was great but you know it doesn't change anything. I still don’t want to be with you and I don’t know if I can see you anymore. I want to move on with my life."
It was as if someone hit him right in the head with a pipe. He was shocked again.
He felt confused and upset and all he could think of was, "Did I do something wrong?"
Time seemed to have slowed down as the days crawled by. Once again, he didn’t see her for a couple of days. Then out of the blue, she called. He picked it up on the first ring when he saw her name on the caller id. They talked and she asked about him. At the end of it, she said she had to go and she will talk to him later online. However, there were things he didn’t say, wanted to say and needed to say. He figured that he would just tell her later. He was delighted to meet her online later at night and started talking to her immediately. The conversation was good until she told him how she felt about not loving him anymore and wanting a new life.
Once again, it felt like he was hit on the head with a pipe.
All that went through his head was, "This can't be... I love her."
As much as he was reluctant to face up to reality, it was happening. She ended the conversation by telling him she had homework to do and had to shower.

Boy Love Story 2
I decided to leave everything to cupid and start clearing up the pile of work in front of me. I checked my email. Everything seemed to be normal until I saw one email. The subject looked like another spam email.
“Subject: Hi Ben, so glad to see you again.”
I was about to delete it but luckily, I glanced at the sender’s name. It was a strange but very familiar name, Falerryne Jacob. I recognized the name only after a few seconds. I tried to put together the jigsaw pieces.
"Oh My god!"
I was crying out loud. The mystery was solved. There were not many people in the world having such a strange name.
Falerryne was my really close high school friend. We walked back home together after school almost everyday. We had such a good old time together before graduation and never met up again for almost ten years! I didn’t want to call it my first love because we were very young at that time but I remembered that we had the best time together. It was one of the happiest periods in my life. The period I always wanted to retrieve back.
“Alright, let's prove it.” I thought as I opened the email.
There was nothing except one link. http://www.kinglishschool.com/friendtest/fairly_test
It seemed that I had no choice but to follow the link. The link led me to some kind of quiz or questionnaire. The three questions quiz was a bit silly but it really made me laugh.
1. Do you know who I am? (If the answer is B, please continue to the second question.)
A. Yes, the annoying girl who called you in the morning.
B. Very familiar...
C. Do I have to?
2. Think and answer. Who I am? (If the answer is B, please continue to the third question.)
A. Your soul mate in the last life.
B. Your old time pal in school.
C. The second cousin of your mother-in-law who is the sister of your aunt's nephew.
3. So what are you going do, handsome?
A. Call Miss Fairly back right now.
B. Go home and take half a day off.
C. Contact your supervisor for sexual harassment.
Now the mystery is solved. This is one of the biggest coincidences in my life. My very close old friend got a job in the same company as mine.
I answered those questions, checked her contact number from the employee repository list and started dialling… to begin the new chapter of my love

Boy Love Story 1
“Wouldn't it be nice if we...”
The all time popular song from beach boys was playing while I got off the train on the same boring Monday.
Actually, this song could be my favourite one because I really like its melody. Unfortunately, its lyrics are kind of making me sick.
After I broke up with my girlfriend, I don't really feel like loving anyone again. Being an honest man doesn't always turn out well. The world is always grey and my life is always blue…
I got out from the train station and crossed the road at the same crowded junction to get to my office which is located at the opposite side of the road. While I was busy crossing the road, I heard an incredibly sweet voice calling me from the back.
"Ben!"
I wasn't sure that someone was really calling me at first. I did not turn my face back because I was in the middle of a dangerous street. However, I looked back in the direction of the original voice when I got to the opposite side.
I thought I saw an angel at that moment. The beautiful girl who called me was sitting in a car. The scene was like in a music video and my surroundings blurred as I only had eyes for her then. She was a very beautiful girl.
We didn't have a chance to talk because the traffic light turned green and her car had to move. I didn't recognize the girl was but it seems that she knows me very well.
I decided to forget about it. There was no use thinking about it because I thought I will not see her again in my life time anyway.
My short romantic incident became a funny topic among my colleagues while we were waiting for the elevators to go down for lunch.
It was very crowded as usual.
I was talking to my colleagues about football while the elevator doors opened. Being a gentleman, I held on to the ‘door open’ button and let the females go first. The elevator was full of people and it was likely that I have to wait for another one. The door was closing as I released the button. Strangely, I felt one pair of eyes staring hard at me from inside the elevator.
I turned to the eyes and all of sudden, I saw the lady in the morning staring at me.
Oh god. We meet again.
It was too late to rush into the elevator unless I push an old lady out of the lift and replace her. The lady used her lips to ask me silently whether I worked here or not. I was able to read her lips and nodded. The elevator doors closed. I smiled… It was almost a laugh as I couldn’t contain my joy.
It seemed that a new chapter of my love story had just begun.
I was thinking intensively about her in the afternoon. I still didn't recognize who she was but again, she seemed to know me very well. I knew that she's working in the same building as me but it didn't help that the building was gigantic.

Sad LOve Story Part 3 ( Ending )
On Monday, James brought Jeanne to school. Everyone gathered around them and agreed that James and the new beautiful girl was a good couple. James put his arm around Jeanne and took her to Eric.
"What's up man? Who's the chick?" Eric asked.
"You'll never know."
"So tell me!"
"You want to tell him girl?" James asked Jeanne.
"Hi! I'm Jeanne." James and Jeanne smiled when they heard him gasp.
"The! T-The N-Nerdy! Nerdy girl?"
"The same, Eric! The same!"
"Can I talk to you, James?" Eric took James away from Jeanne.
"Dude, what the hell is happening here? That's not Jeanne right?"
"It is Jeanne! How can you live like that? How can you live with one spontaneous idea stuck in your head? Haven't you thought about Jeanne being beautiful and attractive?"
"Well No!"
"See? I knew this was a bad idea. But she loves you! Can you believe that? And I love her! So I'm letting her go to the one jerk she loves. Peace, man." and with that, James walked away.
"Good luck, Jeanne." He stuffed his hands into his pockets. He tried to stop the tears from streaming down his face. Jeanne! if you love him that much, I'll let you go. I hope that jackass won't hurt you.
"So! You're Jeanne! The one I rejected?"
"Umm! Yeah."
"Well! I've thought about it, but I think I want you to be my girlfriend."
"Your girlfriend?"
"Yeah." Jeanne couldn't believe her ears. Thank you James, she whispered happily.
"So do you accept?"
"Of course I do! It's always been my dream!"
"Gosh! you have pretty weird dreams! Hey, you look cold. Here." Eric took off his sweater and wrapped it over Jeanne. Jeanne was so happy she started crying. Eric wiped her tears and comforted her.
After school, Jeanne called James to thank him.
"Hello?"
"James! Thank you so much! It went so well between Eric and me!"
"That's... That's great Jeanne..."
"I owe it all to you. Let's go out for lunch or something sometime. I'll pay." Jeanne sounded so happy.
"Jeanne, I don't think that'll be possible."
"Why not?"
"I'm leaving for U.K."
"What about your parents? Why are you going? How are you going? I just don't believe this!"
"My parents passed away a long time ago. I have enough money to get on a plane to U.K."
"But what about me? I thought you loved me!"
"Yes, I do. But you're in love with someone else and I don't want to be a burden to you. I want you to be happy with the one you love and not be pressured by me. Tell Eric that I congratulate him and please help me bade him goodbye. Bye, Jeanne."
Click!
Jeanne couldn't believe it. She was able to date Eric because of James. She was able to get attractive because of James. She was always comforted because of James! And he was leaving her out by herself in the big, hateful, hideous world. She suddenly felt so scared. She dialed James's number again but he had disconnected the phone. She finally knew who is important to her right now.
She quickly got dressed into the clothes James bought for her and ran outside. She was running for her dear life to James's house. When she got there, he was right there in front of her.
Jeanne was so happy she cried out, "JAMES!"
He turned to face her.
"James, how can you leave me like this?" James looked at her with his soft eyes.
"I'm sorry, Jeanne. I have to leave. My cab's here. Bye, Jeanne." James gave her a peck on the cheek and disappeared into the taxi. She watched the taxi disappear around the bend and watched her James leave her forever! She started crying and continued crying as if her life was over. To her, her life is officially over as she is now alone in the world with nobody to support her.
-15 years later-
James came back to America as a successful lawyer. He came back to America in search for the girl he had loved 15 years ago. Everyone in U.K. asked him about her often. Now that he is back, he would be find her and get back together with her. But little did he know there was a problem with that.
"Eric?" James had called Eric. They were in touch the whole time James was in U.K.
"Hey! What's up?"
"I came back to America dude!"
"Oh! Umm! OK!"
"I want to ask about Jeanne. Is she all right?"
"James, there is something that I should let you know."
"I'm getting a bad feeling about this!"
"Well, I guess you can say she's happy and well."
"What do you mean?"
"She's with God, man. She's gone."
"Haha. Nice joke. I'm not kidding. Tell me where she is."
"Dude! I'm Telling You! After You Told Her You Were Leaving Her, She Started Getting Depressed And Became Extremely Stressed! It Was Horrible! Why The Hell Did You Leave? She Would Still Be Alive! She Committed Suicide Because Of You! What The Hell Is Wrong With You, You Dumb-Ass Jerk! I Thought You Loved Her! I Don't Think That's What Guys Who Fall In Love Do To Their Crush! Just Leave Me Alone! Remember When You Called Me A Jackass? You'd Better Think Again."
Click!
The phone fell from James's hand. He dropped to his knees in disbelief. He couldn't believe it. He felt like everything is against him. He felt so angry with himself. He felt like ripping himself up. He wanted to follow Jeanne up to heaven.
For days and days, James didn't eat anything. He was too depressed to carry on with his life.
James was buried right next to Jeanne's grave. His tombstone read:

Sad LOve Story Part 2
"Eric, can I see you for a moment?"
"What's up, dude?"
"It's about Jeanne!"
"Oh no! don't tell me about that ugly girl! I might barf when I hear her name!"
"Shut Up! Dude, You Just Have To Give Her A Chance! What The Hell Is Wrong With You?"
"Hey! I have other girls who want me. The least thing I need now is another ugly girl liking me."
"She's not ugly! She's kind and beautiful in the inside when you get to know her!"
"Wait! do you!?"
"Yes! I do!"
"Haha! Then why don't you date her?"
"Because! she's in love with a jackass!"
"Still? Haha! Man, she's hilarious! After I rejected her like that?"
"Hey! Please! It would mean a lot to me if you can just say that you like her as a friend and apologize for what happened last time. Man, she came running all the way to my house and started crying! She was just out of control! Just please tell her that?"
"All right!"
"You're the best!"
"Hey, Jeanne! I'm sorry for what happened last time. I was sort of tired and grouchy. I wasn't in a good mood. I never wanted to say it that way. I like you as a friend. And I want to keep that relationship. All right?" Eric let out his hand for a shake. Jeanne nodded. She let out her hand and they had a friendly handshake, which made James smile.
"See? Eric likes you! He just wants to keep the relationship as friends! All cool with you?"
"Yes..." she said softly. James took her hand and walked away with her.
"You all right, now?"
"Yeah!" she nodded.
"But he only wants to be friends! Because I'm a nerd!"
"Jeanne! Why don't you ever think about me? You know he's a jerk! Why do you mope around for that! So what if he doesn't like you! Everyone is different, Jeanne. In my eyes, you are a beauty. You can't always think about him! There are other guys out there for you! Not just Eric and me! I really don't want to see you like this."
"James! Do you really love me?"
"I don't think I need to answer that!" They stared at each other for a long time.
"James!" She tried to push him away and he staggered a little.
"Jeanne! Answer this for me! Do you love me?"
"James, I never intended to be your girlfriend. I just want to be your friend."
"Oh, I see! You're treating me like how Eric treated you. You don't want to be my girlfriend because I'm way different from you. You don't want to be my girlfriend because I'm better looking than you and you're afraid that people will jeer you because of that. Well, you know what? I don't care about any of that!" And with that, he grabbed her and locked their lips together.
After a while, he moved away.
"Oh, you really do love me!" She hugged him.
"But, Jeanne! do you still have feelings for him?"
"Yes! I always have and always will."
"Do you want to be pretty? Like those girls over there?" James pointed to a group of girls. They all had big hoop earrings and Jeanne noticed that they did not have any thick glasses like her. Jeanne nodded. She was pretty ashamed about it.
"It's all right, Jeanne. All girls want to be good looking. Even if they were once ugly."
"Really?"
"Sure! I used to act like a girl. I always worry about my appearance, my clothes and my hair; just like a girl."
"Haha! That's funny!"
"It's good to see you laugh. Now Jeanne, I'll help you become pretty. Will you be happy then?"
"I don't know. I've never been attractive in my life..." she said innocently.
"Well, it's time you are!"
"OK! we'll start off with your hair. It's nice and curly. I don't think it's right to put it up into a hairdo or anything. Something needs to go with it and I have just the perfect thing!"
"What is it?"
"Jeanne! We need to pierce your ears."
"What?!"
"Aaaahhhh! Oouch!"
"Well, that wasn't so bad! Right?"
"Yeah right," Jeanne said, rubbing her ears.
"James, it's painful to even touch my ears!"
"Then just leave them alone before you get an infection!"
"All right! Geez!"
"Now, we need to focus on your clothes. You can't always wear a blouse with a tight sweater squeezed over it. You dressed as if our school has a dress code. You should wear a tight shirt with a miniskirt. That would look good on you."
"OK! Now that we have all the clothes and jewelry, all we need to do now is to get rid of your glasses. We need contact lenses for your eyes."
"How are we going to do that?"
"I know someone who can get us contact lenses. I knew my eye doctor for a long time. He can help us with it."
"So you want to give her contact lenses for these glasses?"
"Yeah. Can you help us?"
"Well! the lens are really thick! You must be a really hardworking student," the eye doctor looked at Jeanne. She smiled and nodded.
"So! Will you take them?"
"Yeah, I guess. I really like the design. It can be a display set. And whoever wants it can get it. All right, let's get you some contact lenses."
"That was pretty easy, right Jeanne?"
"But it's pretty weird not pushing up my glasses every 10 seconds."
"Haha. But your new blue eyes look marvelous."
"Wait a minuet! You got me blue contact lenses? Blue?!"
"Yeah. And the extra pair is regular hazel... The same color as your eyes."
"I want the hazel ones. I don't want to be a poser."
"No. Don't you want to have matching contact lenses with Eric? Eric has blue contacts too you know!"
"Fine!" Jeanne pouted. But James knew she was happy deep inside. He knew he was going to have to let go of her soon.

Sad LOve Story Part 1
"I LOVE YOU! I LOVE YOU! "
Jeanne's eyes were wide and filled with tears. She was afraid of what he would say to her.
Jeanne was a nerdy girl with thick glasses. She was a junior in her middle school. She was in love with the hottest guy in the entire school.
And now, she told him that she loved him.
"Haha! Shut up. Nobody would like you! Who do you think I am?"
Jeanne had feared he would say something like that. She was devastated. She started running. She didn't want to face him ever again. All these thoughts and feelings ran through her head. She continued running until she bumped into something.
"Hey, whats up?"
She had bumped into James.
"What?! I'll Go Tell Him! Where Does He Get That Nerve! Sometimes, I Don't Know Why I'm His Best Friend! That's It! I'm Going To Go Beat Him Up!"
"NO! James! Don't do it! It's not his fault. I was the foolish one to think we can ever date."
"But Jeanne!"
"No, it's OK! I should go."
"JEANNE... James grabbed her by the wrist as she was getting up. Don't go..."
Jeanne stared into his eyes and felt so warm and fuzzy; a feeling she didn't feel for a long time. She looked away awkwardly. She was staring into his eyes for such a long time that there was a awkward moment of silence between them. Then, she gently took her wrist out of James grasp and slowly walked away from him with tears in her eyes.
"Dammit, James! You really did it this time! Jeanne just left you! And why are you trying to hit on her?"
James walked back home with his hands stuffed in his pocket. Thoughts of Jeanne ran through his head. He didn't want Jeanne to be hurt by a jackass. He wanted to show her that he loved her. He wanted to show her he cared. But Jeanne seemed to just ignore him. Just as he was deep in thoughts, someone appeared in front of him. James stopped in his tracks to find himself starring at Jeanne again.
"Oh, I'm so sorry... I'm very, very sorry about knocking into you and leaving without saying a word. I'm sorry. Can I repay you somehow?"
"Jeanne", James said, lifting her chin. Jeanne looked through his soft eyes and almost melted.
"James..." said Jeanne. Suddenly, she started crying. James was shocked.
"J-Jeanne? What's wrong?"
"I' m s-s-such a f-fool! H-How c-c-can I e-ever th-think t-that E-Eric loves me?"
"Jeanne... I would not call that foolish... I actually admire you for having the guts to confess your love. However, crying about him is indeed foolish. Jeanne, don't cry about that jerk. Here, let's go to my house. We're right in front of it!" Jeanne nodded.
James led her to the bathroom.
"Take off your glasses. We need to wipe those tears off." He said with a smile. Jeanne took them off without a word. James turned on the water and wetted a washcloth. Then, he gently wiped her tears off her face.
"James.. Do you love me?" James was startled by this comment.
"Why do you ask me that?"
"Because... it seems like it. Do you?"
"Haha! Jeanne, you are my friend."
"Oh... OK. I think I'm not so teary now. Thanks, James."
"No problem. Do you want something to drink?"
"Um... OK." She followed James out the door. He handed her a glass of orange juice and they sat down outside on a bench.
"Are you going to be all right?"
"Yeah... Thanks. But I don't think I'll be able to face him again."
"When he calls you something bad, just yell my name OK?"
"OK." she said with a small laugh.
"But what are you going to do when I call you?"
"I'm going to beat him up!"
"What if everyone starts hating you?"
"It doesn't matter. As long as the one girl I love is happy."
"Ooh, James! You like someone?"
"Yeah... Guess? I'll never tell you until you get the right answer."
"Hmm... is it Amy? She's pretty! What about Lauren? She's nice and quiet. Or is it Becca? She's generous. Or maybe it's Courtney! She's not all that nice though..."
After a few tries, she gave up.
"Who is it? I'm dying of curiosity!"
"Let's see... She has glasses... She's in love with Eric and she's sitting right next to me!" Jeanne let out a small gasp.
"M-Me?" James nodded. Jeanne almost passed out.
"James! I have declared you crazy." James started laughing.
"Why won't you believe me? I like you... I want you to be my girlfriend."
"But you're the second hottest guy in school! What if everyone criticizes you for your bad taste in girls?"
"I don't care. I told you. As long as the one girl I love is happy." he said, smiling.
"No, really, James. No games this time. All serious... All right?"
"Yeah... I know."
"Oh my god..." Jeanne said, covering her mouth with her hand.
"Jeanne, I just want to be the right guy for you." he said while putting his arm around her shoulder. She leaned against him and for the first time, she felt accepted by someone special.
"But, James! Why did you say I was just a friend before?"
"Umm! I didn't feel like it was time yet." Jeanne nodded.
She knew how hard it was to say, "I love you."
She knew how nervous one would feel. And she knew how hard it was to feel rejected.
"I understand, James. I'm just glad you told me. I'll think about it."
"Jeanne, do you still like Eric?"
"Yes!"
"What has he got that I don't?"
"I just don't know! I mean you two look the same! You guys wear similar clothes! But I like Eric better."
"All right! I'll make him like you. He knows he's not going to win in a fight." Jeanne wrapped him in her arms.
"James! I'm all right. You don't have to do all that." And then he wrapped her in his arms.

(!) Sad Love Story (!)
I had three friends. Eric, Cathlyn, Carol. Eric was chased by all the girls in our high school. Cathlyn was one of those popular girls. Cheerleader, sexy, and stylish. Carol was just one of those plain and average girls .
Cathlyn and Carol were both totally crazy and wacko over Eric. Cathlyn didn't have to do anything to attract Eric, for she was already attractive enough. Carol on the other hand, showered Eric with love and care. Carol wasn't ugly at all. In fact, she looked sweet and pleasant. However, she wasn't a cheerleader and she didn't wear spaghetti-straps or tubes.
So like everyone expected, Eric chose Cathlyn. While Cathlyn was labeled as the cool and attractive type, Carol was just one ordinary and plain girl.
Eric always insulted Carol. He was always telling her what a 'Plain Jane' she was and how dumb she looked. It made Carol felt hurt and useless. Despite Eric's insults, Carol never gave up. She wanted to prove something to Eric. She wanted to prove that looks aren't everything. She studied hard, really hard. She became the top girl in her school and all the guys who once ignored her went after her.
Regardless of her success, she never forgot Eric. Everyday, she put a red rose in Eric's locker with the same words.
'I care for you, and I always will' Because she knew that Eric was facing a hard time.
Soon, Eric began to realise how dumb he had beenwhen he saw his beloved girlfriend Cathlyn flirting with other guys. He regretted choosing the wrong girl.
Cathlyn broke up with Eric some time later for she had found a wealthier guy. Eric felt cheated, stupid and dumb. He went to look for Carol. He knelt on his knees, and said.
"Carol, please forgive me. Do you want to be my girlfriend?" Carol rejected him, much to everyone's surprise. She only uttered these words.
"You've suffered a great loss, so I don't want you to face another one"
Eric felt disappointed. He didn't understand a word that she said to him. However, they became good friends and did everything together. Eric began to change into someone better because Carol showered him with the love he had never experienced before. His ex-girlfriends had never treated him that way as they just accepted him for his looks. In comparison, Carol accepted him for who he is and changed him to become a better person. Carol continued putting a red rose into his locker everyday with the same words. She never forgot.
One day, Carol didn't turn up in school. She didn't come for a week. At first, Eric thought that she was on a vacation with her family because she told him that she would be going Hawaii with them. He thought nothing about it until he received a call from the General Hospital. They told him that Carol was about to die. She had been suffering from cancer but Carol forbade them from telling him because she didn't want Eric to worry about her.
Now that she was about to die, she wanted to see Eric for the last time. Eric rushed to the hospital immediately. When he saw how weak Carol was, tears streamed down his cheeks.
He whispered, "Why didn't you tell me earlier? Why did you hide this from me?"
She looked at him and smiled weakly.
"When I said that I didn't want you to suffer from facing another loss, I meant this. I didn't want to tell you because I didn't want you to worry. I wanted to spend my last days with you cheerfully." Eric looked at her.
"You can't leave me!" he said.
"What will I be without you?"
"You'll be who you are now. I will always be there by your side. Never forget that. Cherish those times. Live life happily. And one more thing."
"Yes?"
"I love you"
And she died. Eric screamed. He still couldn't accept Carol's death. He had only spent a month with Carol. One short month was enough for Carol to change his life in a way that no one could ever explain. Eric had many regrets but he knew that Carol would always be keeping an eye on him from Heaven.
Sometimes, we just don't appreciate those people who really care for us until they leave us or until we lose them. Then, it would be too late for regrets. Outer beauty doesn't matter; it's the inner one that counts. It's better to tell someone how much you love them now rather than to not tell them and lose them without telling them.
Love is when we fight till the very last minute just to show and tell someone how much we love them to live life without regrets.
